Need Help

Hi. I am a newbie to this site and to the world of Hydrogen.
I have made a small bench top cell for experiments and things seem to work OK. Now where i need help is, how do you stop the brown scum from appearing on top of the water.
Is there something i have missed.
Any help will be great.

Hi Redback, I live about 10 Hrs sth. from You. Can you give some more details,
Like: The Water you are using, the Stainless you are using, the Electrolyte
(if any ) , the Voltage, the type of container, If you have any copper wire
connecting inside the cell, Or any other material that may touch the electrolyte.

Thanks for the reply.
The water i am using is just straight tap water.No Electrolyte.
I used 316 stainless steel tubes and just had i attached to a 12 volt battery and charger.
I will try to upload a couple of photos to show the problem.
