I imagine that you are on a tight schedule, but some places around
are willing to let you use their Guillotine ( maybe for small hire fee )
so you can cut up the stainless your self. There are Tool Shop hire places
available - check your directory.
Of course you still may need the Metal stockist to chop it in half for you
to fit in the car.

i haven't heard of that here, most of the time we(usa) have issues with insurance and people sueing others. i'll see about it, but i'm not on a tight schedule anymore, not since the army is raping me for 2700+

there is another option, i just don't know if i want to pursue it. the local place can get me bar stock that is 1/8 in thick that comes in 12ft by 6in sizes. the only problem i'd still have is shearing it. but i think that i might be able to get a better price at least doing it that way. using 1/8 would certainly make welding it together a lot easier too, so we'll see

If you are going for 304, a place in Athens TN has a stack of some surplus appliance finish 3' X 8" sheets of thin guage 304 for a great price. Me and Dave looked at it and considered it for use, but we would have had to retool for the thinner slots required for the slotted insert method.

how thin you talkin bob? 22ga? i doubt it'll be as thick as 18ga. my preffered thicknes right now is either 18ga or 20ga. certainly not the 28ga that i have right now.

How flat should flat really be regarding mating plates? I am having a hell of a time with getting my completely flat, especially after I cut them.
