Try a simple test. Take a couple of plates of stainless and put them into a cup of plain distilled water so that they cannot touch. Apply voltage and watch the current draw as you slowly add dry electrolyte to the distilled water, giving time for the electrolyte to dissolve and disperse into the distilled water. You can stir it to help it dissolve if you want. There will be a point where the current will peak, and as you add more electrolyte, the current will stop increasing or may even begin to drop again. Add a little more distilled water to get back to just before the peak, and you will have the maximum electrolyte concentration you should run. Be sure you keep track of how much water and how much dry electrolyte you used. Try that concentration of solution in your unit. Your problem may have been that you just exceeded the concentration limit, and adding more only made it worst.

Hello kww, I believe the reason that the full unit was less efficient than the half-full one was the weight of the extra water in the container. If you made shallower and wider units, your effeciency would be higher. Now if you made one that had a vacuum in the chamber you would get even better effeciency. (easier said than done I'm sure) Water is about 8 lbs. per gallon, and at the bottom of a one gallon container, a bubble will have 8 lbs. of force compressing it, therefore making it harder to form. If the plates only had a few ounces of water weight pressing against it or a negative pressure, you would get much more efficiency. Just my 2-cents.

ok guys Fiberglass resin is pourus epoxy is not. if you look at boat constuction you will see that gell coat is used as a water barrier. you can go to west marine and buy west system epoy and varios fillers you can construct any thing you want. also there is free liturature concerning epoxy( goengen spelling bad gongean bros).
