well i do have a local place that i can check with once i get home, it's just the matter of me being several thousand miles away right now. if they can get it to me cheaper then i'll use them instead. as far as 304/316 i understand what you are saying, but right now this device is a temp anyways, i have another design in the works that will finally be able to use a PEM(solid electrolyte). that one i'll do in 316 as long as i can get all the parts that i wanted. besides i was also thinking of doing nickel plating on it too in hopes that i would be able to slow that process if not halt it permanently

Yea, screen is fill of holes. If you want huge efficiency losses I guess you could use screen

what i have been thinking of doing is doing cost figures for what the difference would be between custom sheared and bulk qty. using that cost difference to buy materials and make my own shear, or buy if i can find one that will do what i want it to. that way i can still get the size i want and have a machine that will do other things later, hehe.

i think i have decided on using 28ga(0.015) stock if i use 304. Bob, does nickel prevent pitting of the material? or have you done this yet?
