Glen, this was an observation from many year ago. I was thinking about the physics of this. I think, I had it backwards. The motorcycle was stationary in the police shop. If he ran up the rpms, that could cause the pipes to glow. Spraying the water at that point would give a blast of steam to carry away the carbon. The latent heat of a phase change from water to steam would tend to grab the heat. I would not give up the heat until it condensed outside the exhaust. So, I'm sure I was wrong.
