I tried a series cell with the floating plate and although the spacing were good and the voltages divided quite evenly, I found I was getting most of the bubbles coming off of the two end plates. Almost nothing in between.
So I decide to try a Series Cell with each cell in its own casing.
Works MUCH BETTER.
Note, This is just a Test, but if it works out satisfactory, I may build a bigger one with a single outlet so I can test for volumes of gas more easily.
The Casing is sheet ABS Plastic, Glued together with MEK.
In the first tests of this unit, I am only using 4 of the compartments, but as you can see there are 14 total. It could be made as a Series cell for higher voltage or a Series/Parallel for just 12 Volts.
Each Stainless steel plate is 2" X 4.75"
The wires are "soldered" to the plates. Easier than bolting them and the sodium hydroxide really doesn't affect the connections as there on the outer side, not on the electrolysis side.
(Yes you can Solder Stainles Steel, If you know how.)
