(What are the specs of your cell. Plate distances, electrolyte density)
The gaskets between the plates are made from 3/16 freezer curtain (the drapes that you walk through in a store freezer) I bought a 20 ft role for 30 bucks. I will post a picture of the gaskets.
For the electrolyte density there is only 1 table spoon of Lye / Liter of water. I am using reverse osmosis water from my tap. I found that this amount of lye works great for my cell.
(Where is a cheap source of 316 SS)
I purchased the ss plates from my local welding shop. The price of steel was 6$ per sq foot. That is why I went to 4X6" plates you can get more for you buck....6 plates / sq foot of ss.
I am able to go to the high school in my town and use the plasma cutter to cut my plates. There is no shear around here. ha ha
The front plate of my cell is just an old cutting board, I used to have a lexan front plate but it kept on cracking. So far the back plate has not broke, probable will soon though.
The cell is then bolted together with threaded rod.
So far I think I have spent about $150.00 on this cell.
