1/22 the energy of a kg of TNT!

Wow is that a cool fact. One of the baloons i set off that was full of hydroxy was 2 gallons and that is roughly 1/22 of a kg of TNT. 96,314.6 Joules. I respect hydroxy.

Well I found on the internet the Joules per mol of Hydroxy and of TNT, and converted gallons to liters to moles for hydroxy. Its a little bit of math/high school chemistry and i dont feel like redoing it. For hydroxy, I found the energy created from a fuel cell, because it is exactly the same chemical reaction. You have to add the amount of heat energy though, because that is not included in the electrical output of a fuel cell. One kilo is probably one stick of dynamite. 1/22 is about 1.6 oz. Thats actually alot. There is a video on google of an envelope of C4, I believe 3oz and it destroys a dresser. These ballons are incredibly loud.

Hydroxcy has an LHV of 862
2,065 lts of Hydroxcy to a litre
7.57 lts to a US Gallon
So you have 15.14lts
31,264lts of Hydroxcy @ 100%
Hydroxcy 32.128 kj/ltr
So 31,264 X 15.632 = 1,004,453kj
or close enough
so you will have a big bang
