I've now purchased enough SS for 7 more units, to make 8 total. I did all the calculations, and made sure I had bought enough for a nice EFFICICENT 0.25 amps/sq. inch

I'm going to build them all as soon as I get the metal cut, and all the end caps and everything needed for the pvc. It's going to be a fairly tedious job to do all of this, but I'm going to get it done asap. I went to a metal scrapper that sells used metal. This piece happened to be there, and the absolute perfect size for my needs. It's not even a used piece, it's an end cut, and it's about 8 sq. feet. $38. Pretty good price!! I like end cuts

Anyway, I believe I should get some good efficiency out of this.

Bob, a couple questions:

It should be okay with the .25 amps/sq inch to run the 7 units until they warm up, and then add the 8th unit, and it should actually run efficiently, no? Or will it not have enough power (voltage) going through?

Also, for future testing, I believe you said that resonance should work in these submerged cell types as well, but it would require a different driver for each individual unit, is this right?.

And, if you had to choose, I guess you would suggest trying resonance with your series cells as opposed to these types??

Gas output is directly proportional to amperage. You should be well aware of that already I am going to be going on vacation this week and plan on writing a BIG HUGE "Electrolysis Basics" section in my project area. I will cover everything I can thing of in detail. All the important stuff and it should help answer your questions a LOT!

Are you sure about your calc? I know that I may have been confusing in my example so I'll do a better job explaining and showing pics in the "Electrolysis Basics" project that I'm going to make. Remember to subtract the outer 2 plate sides and then divide the total surface area by 2 (because of + and - terminals). If you have that much extra metal you're overbuilding and wasting money.

My 12 x 1.5 plates (8 of them) in the new cell (v5) design should be able to handle just over 60 amps at a rating of .5amps per square inch. That's pretty damn high as it is... no need to overbuild and waste money in my opinion.

The equation in long form would be:
(((2 x H x W) x (T - 1)) / 2) / 2

In other words: 2 x Height x Width to get total surface area of 1 plate (both sides). Then Total plates - 1 (due to outside faces of end plates being lost). Divide by 2 for matched sets (+ and - plates). Divide by 2 so you have 1/2 amp per square inch.

The simplified version is this:
(H x W / 2) x (T -1)

T= Total Plates, H = Height of plates, W = Width of plates

This calc tells you how many amps you can push if you intend on an upper range of 1/2 amp per square inch.
