I tried to post this in my project page but it did not work,
i will try again to get a photo of the unit so all can see. Can't seem to get a handel on the workings of that project page. trouble is i was brought up on wind up gramaphones.

I may have come up with something here. This unit has 15mm of epoxy above the plates and has a manual float valve water feed. There does not appear to be any current leakage, if there is any it is minimal.
I had run the unit and let the electrolyte level drop to below the top of the plates, the current was 10 amps I then added water to 1/2â€

Warren , I also got that Brown muck when using 304 stainless [I also had epoxy
in my unit as well. ] .
What you have will make a great car booster. My similar unit is still running
on a car. You can see the one I am talking about in my projects section...

I think that the Brown does reduce after some time.
I filtered the electrolyte a number of times and it got less.
