I think Bob & Chris deserve outstanding credit, not just for their experiments and working prototypes, but in the spirit of being helpful, for being kind enough to start and maintain this board, respond to the many redundant questions asked by the ever-increasing number of people taking an interest.
Speaking for myself, my lack of interest in duplicating certain methods is not for lack of appreciation of what they can do, but what they can't. That certainly is no personal criticism of Bob or Chris. There's a world of things that have never been tried, and no one is expected to do everything. Some designs simply have inherent limitations, that is, until they're overcome. No one can be wrong for trying. In my guts I'm sure its already been done a hundred different ways and more than a few have been/are being suppressed. Let's recognize we're all wearing iron helmets of ignorance placed upon us by others, and avoid turning on each other due to our 'condition.'
I know I'm not in this for my ego or adulation, which is why I use a handle. I just want to find the simplest, cleanest, most efficient means of accomplishing the goal (which I'll bet is the motivation for everyone here), and then use it. Doing new things can require lots of study, investigating clues, looking over other people's fences (disciplines) until enough reasons have been gathered to support a design, then finding the resources in time, materials and money (not to mention skill) to accomplish it, which may in the end, fail. (How many times did Edison try different materials for light bulb filaments?)
Cut me up and down. I'll try not to be oversensitive. Gentlemen: we're not just trying to split water, but save civilization. Best regards to all.
