i think that i got those leaks taken care of now, but i haven't tested the box again yet. i'm going to wait to test it again until i got the lower part of the flange welded on first. i'm still drilling the bolt holes for them right now, and without coolant i forgot that i CAN'T just hog through it like i could on the mills, lol.

thanks for the help bob, was rather interesting with everything we all talked about. hopefully i can get back there again sometime.

was thinking about the caustic potash and realized that since i do a lot of grilling i have lots of ash leftover from that that i could use. of course charcoal is basically a condensed version of charred wood, i am thinking i could just use the ash from the grilling with hopefully less trash.

after roasting a few high speed steel and TiN coated bits i gave up and bought some deWalt cobalt drill bits. went out and drilled the pilot holes for the remaining holes and the 1/8 bit was B-E-A-U-TIFUL afterwards. looks like i'll be able to finish up the rest of them tomorrow, i hope, lol.

First, I don't make those sealed cells myself. The design was for those that wanted something easier to build and assemble than making boxes with slotted inserts. The sealed cells are just too difficult to fill and maintain level on. I make the open top cells in plastic boxes which solves a lot of that problem. The sealed cells uses flexible PVC, like that used for air curtains and door seals. When I gasket the tops of my plastic boxes, I prefer to use 1/4" thick neoprene cut to size. Hope this helps.

true, i remember you saying that before. for the vehicle though i think the sealed one is better to use for longetivity. yeah, you'll lose some efficiency but i can set it up so that i cen get a pump to run fluid through it to prevent rising electrolyte concentrations and the plates getting eaten away, such as it happened to kevin. i'd rather have it sealed and pressed together than just sitting in position by gravity if i'm going to use it for a booster. with the vibration and movement in a vehicle i'd rather have everything solid, of course doing it this way means that i'll have to run it in parallel in order to get it to run right, but i'll try to get several of them to run in series to recover some effiecency. i know it's not what you normally suggest, but unless i'm understanding things incorrectly i don't feel comfortable with doing it that way in a vehicle. if i'm misunderstanding it, please feel free to correct me.

Well since I have been waiting and waiting for help to get these plates cut up I finally gave up today and bought a set of hand shears to do it myself. It really sucked doing it that way since my arm is really tired, but oh well. At least I finally have the electrodes cut and ready to be cleaned up. I just have to straighten them out, clean up the edges and then when I have the lugs cut tomorrow I'll start welding them on hopefully. My only concern is that I might burn through the material trying to get them to weld together, but we'll see later, probably not tomorrow. Besides, I still have to buy another tank of argon since I used the entire tank on doing just the tank.

I will suggest this to anyone trying to do things this way....DONT DO IT BY HAND, lol. Spend the tons extra money to have them already cut for you, lol. It takes too long and it gets really tiring on the arm doing it this way, lol. Sometimes CHEAP DOESN'T prevail, lol.

Hey Leon....sorry bout that go tbusy today and lost track of time...how much of that sheet you have left??You culd do a cell like Antdavison's and prolly do well with the material ya have ya know consider'n an all.Yer prolly aware by now that the material yer use'n is get'n bent outta shape??just a thought ......Looks like you culd make a jig and custom fit those windings to yer specs.
