The biggest pain in the ass when it comes to working with hydrogen, (other than some of you) is leaks. This is how I penetrate into a vacuum chamber or as Dankie would say a "vacuum storage room". Notice how I solder the wire to the brass connector and then use a lathe to drill into a stainless bolt and then thread that into the brass hose barb? Minimal penetrations = minimal leaks and the national pipe thread fitting gets tighter as you screw it in since it is tapered.
