gas burner

ok im sure this is a simple one for someone,

i have a "ahem" fuels still, which im improving on, making more efficient, i would like to make my own butane (barbique gas) burner ring for it, is this something stupid (due to working pressures), or is it as simple as im thinking, small bore copper pipe (plumbing or gas), T piece, Regulator, flow control valve and lots of holes? and any ideas on how to figure the correct size and amount of hoels?
