yup pretty much. it's a learning thing. people come, share, teach. this is not free advertising space. look at some of the spammers who got their butt booted off... but otherwise ask questions. you will note that a lot of people ask the same questions over and over, and new people asking the same questions as the last bunch, so be patient. i highly recommend reading what veterans here have to say, like Bob Boyce, Thrival, Bemet, Cryptonic26, MrGalleria, and few others.
i would also advise that while learning something totally unfamiliar and new, meaning it was not even touched on in regular schools, that if it is frustrating to try and understand, try going to a library, or if the library is closed at 2:00 AM, like usual (darned state offices! they close when you need them the most ya know!), then try a Google Search, an MSN search, or something that you might prefer, like YAHOO, or something like that. there is a slot of sifting of information.
the site here contains a wealth of information, and i personally spent a great deal of time reading and thinking before ever posting here.
there are those who get mad because they want the answer "handed to them" and they will "pick apart" or "cherry-pick" the posts on the forum. do not mind them. they can be agitating, but so can i. i make mistakes like they do. learning being the singular most important thing, keep it in mind that nobody here knows it all, and if they do then they have no room to learn more and should not ask questions if they know it all. i do not know it all. i don't often ask/post questions, but when i cannot find it in an book, online, or anyplace, i will ask/post a question.
also of interest is the PROJECTS FOLDER, look through them. i have started mine, but have not posted anything. my archive of photos (digital) are on the "big" machine as i call it. it is a computer that does NOT connect to the internet, and is for data storage and processing ONLY. when a harddrive gets full, i remove it, and put it in a static bag, and box it up for storage. i have 4 of these so far. they are only 2.5 to 5.0 gigabytes apeice. i have not been near my "big" computer for a long time, and have not even powered it on since December '05, it is now Feb. '06, and not yet have i have time.
some people here do not wish to share ALL of their information, as they are either in business, getting launched into business, or it is proprietary information. i respect those who do this, just ask much as i would respect those who respect my wishes to hold off on some information that is proprietary to myself. there are no limits to what you can learn. you can post for free, but please do follow the rules set forth by the site administrator.
respect goes a long way. if someone makes a great claim, then maybe they discovered something, but don't either fully understand the complete scope, or it is true, and nobody has ever heard of it before.
hope to hear from you soon, and don't have too much fun reading like i did!
Smile! It's not too bad here.
