No, the dirty air cannot get into your fuel from a vacuum hose. HOWEVER, this can be part of your problem. a Vacuum LEAK, will send a MAF, with a BARO, and MAP reading off the scale and send the computer for a loop per say.

And removing the 3 big computer plugs one at a time, and trying, is NOT a very good idea. If say the power feeds were on one plug, and the ground feeds were on the other, and you removed the ground feeds plug, and the computer now has power, although very low, the low voltage will produce some serious smoking of computer components.

Low Voltage will do serious damage to the computer, here's why:

a 24 volt truck, using 200 amps to start the engine, will require the use of 400 amps (or more, when the voltage is lowered to 12 volts.

cut the voltage in half, and double the amperage.

Electricity ALWAYS seeks the simplest way to ground. IF, the 3rd plug has 1 ground, and the electricity flow (without regard to the functions of the components) seeks the quickest ground, it will smoke everything in it's path to get there. so the notion of removing the computer plugs is a VERY BAD IDEA.

now, on the vacuum line to your booster, remove it, and PLUG IT.

get a "NOID LIGHT" for your injectors. this will allow you to see if your injectors are pulsing. it's installation is simple. remove the injector wire plug, and install the "NOID LIGHT" in place of 1 injector. if it pulses, the signal is good, and the computer MAY possibly still be good. if it stays on solid, or doesn't pulse at all, and the fuses are all good, and such forth, check the relays, and if they are found to be good, replace the computer, and remember what NOT to do in the future.

Noid light sets cost $15.00 at any parts store. they usually have 8 different types of lights in them.
