I haven't forgotten or given up on this project, I have just been really busy lately. That and my table has been occupied by other crap, so now that it has been cleared I can start working on the cell again once I have more time. I'd be working on it right now if I were home!

My order of 15 additional plates has been completed today and now I have a total of 25 for the dry cell. I'm real anxious to see what my production will be after I get these plates conditioned. My variac that I have here will do wonderfully for that since it only goes up to 1.8 amps. The only way to make it more amps would be to make a toroid just to drop it down to 2 volts with the supply voltage high at the variac. That is the only way to increase the amps drawn by the cell.
