first time go? i hope so, lol

This forum is for discussing anything related to electrolysis and electrolyzer designs.

Sounds like a good plan. I would expect the wood to get more and more crushed.
So would just factor in - having to re-do the first 10% of them again to
make sure they match up with the last ones done.
- Keen to hear how this works. Will certainly stiffen up those plates.

Well I'm about halfway through the stack of plates as far as trying to flatten them out. A friend in the area helped me out by cutting my tabs for the plates while I was hammering away. I did try to TIG them together and I only succeeded in burning the really thin material. What I really want to do is have them spot welded, but I'm still not sure how to do that with what I have so far. Maybe if I use a welding gun I can do it without burning through the metal.

The MIG normally has a setting to allow Spot welding type of work.
Sad to hear the tig is not ideal for this.
I dont fully appreciate the trouble, but could you practice more with the TIG
and do Very light dabs and let cool between to see if you can just get it too
stick without melting. I have only Oxy Welded, but my mate can TIG aluminium
Cans - He's Had LOTS of practice ( like 30 years).

Use a heat sink. When welding thin stainless steel I would clamp a piece of thicker steel to the part I was welding.
When the price of gasoline went over $2.00 per gallon I started looking at alternatives again.

I tried using the arc and it didn't work(as I expected). I have the tabs overlapping the plates by 1/4 in so that there is enough material there to use. I still haven't looked for that welding gun design yet since I've been working on the website lately. I think I can get to it tomorrow and find out what I need to grab from the hardware store.

Great results from plain water, will be interested in plate spacing and size.
Looking forward to photos

Well I bought a new battery charger this evening since I roasted my last one doing this project. This time I got a 40amp charger with the 110amp start assist, this should HOPEFULLY not blowout on me anytime soon. I was too busy setting everything up with getting my new job to play with my cell today so I hope to get to it tomorrow sometime. I'm still shuffling it with getting the job squared away so time is limited. I hope to get the top welded together tomorrow and put the connections in the top of the tank. I got new #4AWG battery cables to run for the connections, I just have to cut them in half and add in some more connectors so that I have 4 cables for inside the tank and the outside of the tank to another connection of some sort.

Well I put the distilled water in today, and the assembly is only pulling 2.6 amps.
