Interesting thoughts guy.
Here's a link for a thermocoupler that might help out.
Heat at the engine is one of the hottest points no doubt but,
if your car is equiped with a cat-converter, the temperature just after
the cat is approx 100 degrees F hotter than the inlet to the cat.
(if it is functioning properly)
Figure 450F before the cat and 550F+ after.
You might simply wrap a small coil of steel or copper tubing around
the exiting pipe, after the cat, to get the most heat and ease of access.
(since the engine bay is typically jam packed with stuff on newer cars)
No restriction of exhaust flow and heat taken off free.
Or, on a larger pipe diameter, slice the side of the pipe, and route in
a small pipe for a foot lets say, and slice it back out.
Then very little restriction (compared to a turbineblade) and the best
heat take off too.
Just idea rolling around in my head this morning after reading this. lol
