Well a Microwave Cap and Ignition car coil doesn't work to flash-heat water .. Tried it .. In fact, it's weak ..

You'll need a capacitor bank And High voltage . .


I didn't try when water is in a vapor state . .

You mean 8 amps per plug? I don't know if that's
standard for most ignitions or not. I read a few months
back that car companies were thinking about moving
to 24V, two-battery systems, which would be great
for hydro-power. I suppose we can do it for ourselves
in the mean time. I'm hoping that a shunt capacitor
of sufficient size would preclude the need for an extra
battery as used in S1R9's system (egaspower yahoo
group).

A double-coil system could probably handle twice the
amps. Of course bigger capacitor is always possible,
but don't want to blow the coil(s). Does anyone know
if standard wires can handle that? Should I go to
copper-core wires?

im pretty sure thrival it had 8 amp coil packs on each plug,it was a 12volt system though.2004 5.7 hemi

The capacitor in older ignition systems is there to protect the points. No cap across the points and they would burn out after only a few miles but with a cap fitted the points would last for several thousand miles.
Once car radios started to become popular slightly bigger caps were used to provide radio supression. The draw back is it reduces the back EMF as the feild does not collaspe as quickly. Before there were things like car alarms it used to be a anti theft trick to install a large capacitor into the ignition circuit that was connected with a secret switch. Makes hot wiring impossible as no back EMF = no spark.

Well if the distributor fires when the primary is collapsing,
then a capacitor will do no good. On the other hand
if ignition occurred by some type of commutator (I thought
a distributor might do that) then a cap should help a lot.
Gosh, I see they design everything so backward, it's a
heroic effort to make things work the way they should.
