I did condition my 13 plate cell with less than 3.8% KOH for nearly 4 days. I did measure gas output and efficiency during conditioning period. On fifth day, I changed the electrolyte strength to 15% KOH. Obvious difference is more KOH less voltage needed to produce same amount of gas.
Example:
3.8% KOH
LPM = 0.72
Voltage = 14V
Current = 10A
Efficiency = 72.56%
15% KOH
LPM = 0.72
Voltage = 12.9V
Current = 10A
Efficiency = 78.75%
I believe if I increase the KOH strength to 20%, the cell becomes even more efficient. I did test using car alternator but only draws 11A with 15% KOH. My target is to produce at least 2LPM of hydroxy using less than 20A with some help from intake manifold vacuum.Statistics: Posted by kumaran — Sun Oct 07, 2007 10:00 pm
