i made a spiral wound cell, wound like a capacitor, from thin shim stainless steel, but only had four plates, so no good for much higher than 5v; and made a controller based on an sg3524 chip (independant frequency AND pulse width, so better than 555 and a big arse mosfet irfk6h150. .... anyway, i will pass on what i have seen
get an acetelyene torch, and you will see it as two inlets, one for oxygen, one for acetelyene.
from your electrolyser, put in a tee splitter .... one portion (unbubbled) can go straight to the torch .... this becomes the high temperature invisible component.
the other portion is bubbled thru a hydrocarbon ... in the case i saw a clear camping/barbeque fuel called shellite was used... bubbling thru hydrocarbon will slow the gases burn rate so mimicking propane, and will provide a colour to the flame ... this goes to the other half of the torch
to start the torch on a low flame, dial in the gases passing thru the hydrocarbon only, then dial in the no bubbled case for more extreme heat
all lines were protected with sand packed spark arresters
i am waiting for the new www.knowledgepublications.com dvd casue he seems to also talk about mixing h2 with hydrocarbons, which seems to be a good way of slowing the h2 burnrate, and avoiding invisibilty
