Process is "cold Catalyst"

Postby Tomboceaser » Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:00 pm

Thrival,

I have read this complete thread a couple times and want to say thank you for your and others insight into the possible processes that will result in great amounts of hydrogen being produced from different catalyst. However, I did not find any indepth discussion of this statement by Alaska Star, "I cannot tell you how my process on "cold Catalyst" is built or works, but i can tell you that the temperature of the water that i drop it into lowers as the hydrogen comes boiling over the top."

Can you, (are anyone else) suggest at least one process where a chemical, mineral or metal when dropped into water will lower the temperature of the water and produce massive amounts of hydrogen? Thanks for any help you can give me on this question, Tom

That sounds like a description of an endothermic reaction.

endothermic reation

Postby Tomboceaser » Mon Feb 13, 2006 10:12 pm

Bob,

What metal, mineral or chemical would one start with to get an endothermic reation using water only? The experiments I have been reading about always seem to ad something to the water like batter acid, lye, etc, etc and various metals to produce hydrogen, but the water always heats up. I am interested in pursueing experiments that results in the water cooling down while producing gas.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom.

I'm looking in my Old Henley's manual of trade formulas, at refrigerants.
One method is "take a 10% dilution of sulfuric acid in water. Add a handful
of Glauber's salts for every quart of solution. The temperature will drop
sharply." (Note: it did NOT say it would make hydrogen!)

Several other refrigeration formulas (this is before both refrigeration
compressors and freon); they use potassium nitrate, ammonium chloride,
sodium sulfate, ammonia nitrate, dilute hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid,
calcium chloride in different combinations.

I believe he mentions several steps and making H2 at every one. That
would indicate not just one reaction but several, in succession. It's no
doubt important the order in which these separate reactions occur.

AlaskaStar may not want to give too much away, given his methods
could be proprietary, and you can't blame someone for wanting to
make a living from their brain-power. Why not ask him yourself in a
more private venue? He might even tell you what you need to know.

Cold reaction

Postby mrgalleria » Tue Feb 14, 2006 2:32 am

This may not answer your question, but I see something of a similar unusual cooling effect associated with the GEET or MFP replacement for carburation. Some claim that ice will even form on the exhaust pipe. I have built this device (plans at rexreasearch.com) and attached it to a 5 hp briggs gen. but have had limited success getting the engine running consistantly.

regarding the GEET- it may be the presence of a high level of oxygen that results in the cool exhaust effect. Maybe this knowledge will be of value in attempting to duplicate Alaskastars experiments.

Hey Thrival

Which Henley's do you have ? I use to have the "20th century Formulas processes and trade secrets" version, but I loaned it out 15 yrs ago and haven't seen it since
Been wanting to get another one but don't remember if the one I had covered the stuff we are doing now, i remember it told about soap, hairspray,.... Household stuff, but Referigeration etc ???

Thanks

Hydrogen from an endothermic process

Postby Tomboceaser » Wed Feb 15, 2006 9:01 pm

Thrival,

You are right, I could approach AlaskaStar more directly. However, I have enjoyed and feel like I am learning from all the different ideas that were posted on the thread started by AlaskaStar. There is something intriguing about a process that can produce massive amount of hydrogen and is endothermic. Yet, no one spent anytime talking about such a process that seemed son central to what AlaskaStar is doing.

God bless,
Tom
