hi all. i really enjoy all the imput. my thoughts on this subject go like this. appox 75% of power goes out tailpipe. 1hp=1.3kw. if i could generate an extra 130kw( auto alternators are 100-200 amps or 100-200kw) the equilivent of 100hp will be available for electrolisis.must be done without additional engine backpressure( not 0 bp) so additional elect power isn,t wasted. if i can find or make an exhaust (heat) driven generator the rest is doable. if i can get past the power gen problem the rest only involves building a suitable ( single or multible) electrolizers . delivery would be by modified nat gas injectors with custom fuel program. lots of companies do these.the hot rod industry has plenty of fuel program builders. the problem is generation not delivery. thanks for letting me clarify my ideas. bobby r

thanks bob . that will teach me not to rely on hs math over 40 yrs old in my head. the ideas seem to be rolling now. i forgot abt tesla turbines. to make standard steam how abt bying used set of headers on ebay etc. cut open.coil tubing inside to absorb exhaust heat. more effecient transfer in direct contact with gas & no steel between . weld headers back together. easy to do off car.wrap with insulating material. that header wrap used on race cars is expensive. other materials??have a good day all. bobbyr

I like the idea of cut'n a header open and fix'n it back,plus insulation.....wow....lots of heat there....easy to picture......looking at some kinda ceramic....or cheaper insulation.Insulation is something im not too clear on........care to elabriate......lol?

kevin a coil inside a header tube is in essence a single tube water boiler. by not allowing heat to escape from the outside of the header you have the maxium amount of heat(btu,s)to use to make as much steam as possible. more (or better ) insulation means more btu,s (work) to play with.less loses.im excited by this idea because i feel a good deal of elect can be generated this way. even if only 1/4 or 1/3 of the waste heat can be recaptured as elect generation that would be great considering the hp of most engines.most cars & trucks get by on todays roads with about 2000-2500rpm.not the hot rod guys.by inserting a tightly wound coil( anybody know if they make a soft stainless) inside the header tube we would wind up with a mutible tube steam boiler. i think high steam output should be easy. does anyone know if anyone today has built a tesla turbine with the effeciencies telsa acheived. if not i,m going to try to locate some easily coilable stainless tube & get to work. gee a v8 steam boiler. stanley steamer was on to something a long time ago :lol: i personally would really like to build a working car just to wipe the smiles of the faces of some no nothing jerk mechanics on my job. a little motivation ca go a long way. bobby r

zen dog that was an interesting site. i asked for info but have not gotten any reply. it would look to be preproduction.i did call & speak to bob green in california. he has a small, new design steam engine. very simple& cheap. he told me that a benchtop model makes 3hp @ 100lbs steam.& can be scalled to any size.has plans etc for larger sizes. might be an ok short term solution for the generator :?: :?: im trying to figure out how much exhaust , what temps etc. to get an adaquet idea for a heat exchanger in the exhaust system. power generation & amount will determine how much hydrogen can reasonably be made. i,de like to take the engineers approach before committing a lot of time & money. would be happy just to see great improvement in milage for the short term. long term is to replace gas . any comments :?: :?: thanks all. bobbyr
