I do give you a vote of confidence. I give anyone trying a vote of confidence. If I had an old carb type truck I think I would try it but with the more modern engines with emission controls, fuel injection and computer control it becomes harder. I just was stating that I think I will try something simplier like a small 6hp electric start engine that I purchased a while back just for this type of experimenting. Once I get it working or figured out then I will move on but for now a bench mounted engine is easy to work on and to modify. And electric start is even better as it keeps my arm intact

A weed barrier. It is a fine mess black cloth type material that is in the garden department of most discount or landscaping stores. Its purpose is to allow water to seep by while keeping plants / vegetation from growing though it. Hence the name weed barrier. I was thinking a couple layers of this may keep the chemical solutions from mixing. Worth a try anyway.

maybe you have to think about AFC fuel cell "A" for Alkaline (CaSO4 for us) and use it as reverse, 'that is the clue', remember all the post by AlaskaStar and the cost for the material, no need for Nafion or Proton-Exchange Membrane.

I've seen that weed barrier stuff, didn't know that's what you meant.
Better to test in weak H2SO4 2Bsure; acid might eat it away over time.

Yes gypsum is the product Alaska Star used (or end product he sold
as fertilizer.) But that means it was used up, spent, but for a way
he said he discovered, of recharging it. Do you mean to say that
copper/oxide electrodes let you do that? That's a worthwile
discovery. The simpler and more ways we find to build cells, the
better, should some materials ever be in short supply.

As for his wrapping a coil around a bucket of the stuff and nuking
it all with microwaves, I never did figure that out. Maybe simple
heat increased electron activity (just like Bob Boyce says his boxes
need to warm up), or a magnetic field through the material induced
more voltage/current somehow. I don't think 2.37 to 2.52 GHz is
the resonant frequency of water; if it were, we'd be making lots of
hydrogen every time we cooked dinner.

If the union is high up, above the chemicals and the electrodes,
you're probably right, no nafion membrane may be required,
but only if the union is at the bottom. Somone mentioned a |V|
union higher up to prevent gas bubble collecting there. I think
that's a great idea.
