This method of hydrogen generation has been around for a long time. The energy required to produce aluminum negates any benefit from using it to generate hydrogen. Plus, I believe there are some toxic byproducts that result from its use in hydrogen generation...not positive. I did see that article this morning, and when I see stuff like that, it just pisses me off. The media only covers the technology that has no real hope of ever becoming used in daily life. You'll never see CNN doing a story on Stan Meyers, Bob Boyce, or any of the others who have made serious headway in the search for a truly useful energy source.

Although I agree with you that the medial in the US are a bunch of sheep, I have yet to see a functioning system from either Steven Meyer OR Bob Boyce.... If you have plans or can point me to them somewhere I (and many others) would greatly appreciate it..

Rumors of or past hear say doesn't count ...... Actual reproduceable systems count...

Anyone can claim that they have powered a car with an electrolyzer (on demand) and then say they lost the plans as I have seen from both of these individuals ........

In addition, the system must be practical to be used by the common man, not a hobbyist or scientist.... Most people I know don't make it a priority in their life to manufacture fuel in some concluded way with hazardous chemicals. People do have other professions.

Take care,
Paul

I know those that will say... the energy cost in aluminum production will offset the energy gained etc... But who here is trying to save the world? It would be nice... but on our budgets this project seems quite possible to convert ones vehicle to hydrogen... aluminum cheaper than gasoline?

I hope this isnt too OT

The comment here was to reflect the fact that Honda has built a prototype vehicle powered by: Quote from CNN-----

Pellets made out of aluminum and gallium can produce pure hydrogen when water is poured on them, offering a possible alternative to gasoline-powered engines, U.S. scientists say.

And the follow on comment from spencyg said:

Well, the thought here is that Bob Boyce nor Steven Meyer have produced a system to power a car so there is no comparison or story to be published like the one from Honda and Bob insists that he is nor working on that as well as he stated in the previous and other posts....

Not even Steve Meyers brother can't get it together after 10+ years of additional research with that close connection.... And the interesting part is that listening to him speak on Blog Talk Radio he didn't even know that the Hindenburg Airship was filled with Hydrogen, he thought it was helium. - the host was probably embraced for him, makes you think....

Well...Stan Meyer did power a car with hydrogen, and Stephen Meyer has taken a completely different tract with his technology (look up Xogen on youtube and paw through their promotional stuff). I believe Bob was powering boats with this technology decades ago, and was working with cars when he stopped research the first time.. Aluminum takes tons of energy to refine, and who the hell knows whats involved with mass producing Gallium...??? The whole thing is an idiotic attempt by mass media (with corporate direction) to subtly undermine the truth regarding hydrogen as a viable fuel in modern society. H2-Paul, I consider your opinions to consist of pop-media repeat drivel. I thought you'd been banned long ago, but apparently Chris is far more patient than I am.....go back to the golf course or back to what ever big oil company pays your mortgage, and let those of us trying to make a difference get back to work.

I was doing some experiments about a year ago trying to replicate this cornish hydrogen generator.

Some observations I made.
1. The spark from an ignition coil will not jump across a gap underwater.
2. If the electrode touches the other side underwater, the coil will short out and either blow up the ignition module or the coil or both.
3. The spark ignition system is large Voltage, but low amperage.

After blowing up my ignition rig, I decided to try hooking up a 12v battery and sparking the electrodes underwater.
As long as the 2 electrodes were moving and the wire was not allowed to stick to the drum, there would be a blue spark and hydrogen bubbles were produced.
If the wire stuck to the electrode, it would quickly heat up and short out the battery.

In the patent diagrams there is a "large capacitor" missing. This supposedly goes between the ignition coils and the electrodes.

I believe the way to replicate this would be to run the device using a large 12v battery to produce the spark at the electrodes, but also with a pulsed high voltage spark from an ignition coil.

After blowing up my rig, I gave up on this project. It does have some merits, but all in all, I think it is ultimately doomed to fail due to the price of aluminium.

I also began to try and think up ways of modifying this to run on scrap aluminium, which would be great if it could be done. Open the lid and chuck in some scrap aluminium engine parts, top it up with water and shut the lid.

It could be done, but the energy required to run the system would be similar to what is required to run an arc welder... Big hint here. This device is basically an underwater welding rig.
Think about it.... :D

Dear Spencyg,

Thanks for your conscious reply, but the domain name www.xogen.com is for sale and those tired old videos with Stan Meyer are just that... No one, I mean No one has replicated those claims that Stan made. He him self didn't even allow any third party to examine his working device and claims.... That cell on the buggy didn't look anything like the one in his lab..

This was my favorite.... All we are missing is an extension cord....

As far as Stephen, - - is this where legit companies keep their promotional documents YouTube ? ? ? ? Wow a new world... I thought companies actually have web sites, addressed and phone numbers .... Maybe you can help us here since you seem to know that......

Looking forward to some facts from you in the future not unsubstantiated BS.

Xogen sold out last year after landing a multi-million dollar deal with a large environmental company to produce on-site waste water treatment units. These units used similar technology to the hydrogen generation system Stan created, but with a different focus. The only evidence of their existence is the Canadian "bankruptcy" papers. The reason Xogen documentation isn't available on any "professional" web sites is because its been knocked out by some 3rd party. The only information left is from those who had the foresight to save copies of their material and then repost it on public spaces.Do you own God Damn research H2-Paul....the rest of us have put in our time, and you're just a mooch. Buzz off dude.
