ive heard everyone talk about how you need the square wave i need a way to get that out of a car battery id be glad to pay someone to make it.

arcainmachineist:

Yes, you'll probably find the best deals at digikey; best mosfet I've
found for the price is the IXYS IGBT, 600V, 60A: spec sheet here:

...available from www.surplussales.com for $7 bucks per pop.

You can also pull transistors out of old stereo amplifiers. They're
the bottle-cap shaped things bolted to big finned aluminum heat
sinks.

You can teach yourself enough electronics in a couple weeks from
books. You don't need to understand everything just to build a circuit.
Just read about each type of component to understand what it does.

Contrary to what Loster infers, there's nothing wrong with Radio
Shack parts. The issue is really one of retail cost, and convenience.

Why, loster? You're the furthest thing from.

Here is a kit that I have been thinking about building and trying. I don't know how well it would work or if it is the right thing to use but it is all that I know of that I would be willing to try. I have bought kits from this company before.
http://www.electronickits.com/kit/compl ... ck1400.htm
Chemelec.com has one on his web site as well and he will answer questions and has posted his results using his unit with electrolysis.
Bob Boyce or Thrival could probably give better directions than me as to whether the above kit will work.
I put my first electronic kit together two weeks ago so I am just a newbe with the electronics end of the world. I know nothing about electronics but can solder things together if someone tells me what to solder where, which is what the kits do. I would be willing to put a kit together for you but I am not very experienced. You could probably do it yourself just as good as me but if noone else offers to help you drop me a line.

should be ok, supports some hefty amperage, (with circuit beef-up)

doesnt say what frequency range it supports though being a motor controller

Pulse Ciruit

Postby shine_runner01 » Thu Sep 15, 2005 5:00 pm

I take it that all of you know that if you use a 555 timer it will only pulse as fast as 9mhz & thats really pushing it. I thought everyone here already knew about electronics, egineering & circuit design, but I guess not. A regular motor control circuit WILL NOT WORK fast enough for what we want. You need high speed Switching Transistors to get the job done. Regular audio transistors will be too slow. You need 1's that will work in the Very high Mhz range -- the Ghz range depending on how fast you are pulseing the circuit. You may want to look torwards Darlington transistors as they are very fast & have very high gain & can normally take a shit load of current for switching applications
The 555 timer setup seems to help, but it's not really as high of a fequency that is needed to lower the current level & be able to produce the same amout of hydro. Also as a safty note. You will need alot of Cooling for your transistors as the by product of the cirucit working will be WATTAGE which it thrown off as Heat by the transistors. Also remeber unless u use Plastic type transistors there back will be Metal & 90% of the time it is tied right into the Collector leg of the transistor & it WILL short out if your heat sink is grounded or if the heatsink has 2 be grounded you will have to use a non conductive thermal pad between the heatsink & the transistors. & if thats the case you better make sure you have enough heatsink grease on it or it will fry.

Also frogot to say that I have a 555 timer based system running a 30 cell unit with 6 round stainless plates 4.5 " across in each cell. It is contained in a 23 gallon tupperware container that sits in the trunk of my car. The 555 Controlling Unit is powered by 12 volts. The Power switching unit is fed by a 60 volt DC to DC power supply & then ran to the coils & they are ran in Series. 60 \ 2 = 30. Therefore I have 2 volts per cell. Once the H2 is made it goes into a high preasure unit made from ABS plastic. It basicly is a cheap H2 metering carb that I made using ABS plastic pipe, check valves & some Metering jets that I made.
Anyone have any questions just give me a buzz. Oh by the way all of this I have in there still is'nt enough to power a car totally. But it did basicly double my gas milage & add some more get up & go. Though this setup may do more for a littler car. this is in a 1985 monte carlo with a built 400 small block v8 pushing around 520 horses & 600 tourqe.
