new to the boards and interested in the booster concept

This forum is for discussing anything related to electrolysis and electrolyzer designs.

new to the boards and interested in the booster concept

i've read things here and there about the hydrogen fuel cell pipe dream that everyone is raving about, and i think it sounds like an outright pain. I stumbled across the concept of hydro-boosting about 6 months ago, and it really caught my attention as a better way of thinking about alternate utilization of energy.

http://www.angelfire.com/ak5/energy21/hydroboost.htm

that is the site that originally got me looking into it. The guy seems to have a decent idea of what he's talking about, but there are a few holes in the description that i was wondering about, and this seems like it would be the best place to come for answers from people who actually know.

reading beyond that site, i see a lot about using multiple electrolysis cells with lower voltage, rather than a single 12v like what he has. Nothing on his site talks about having overheating problems, except if to much acid is added to the tank.

all the vehicles he tested it on were carbed, not fuel injected. has anyone ever had success at the astonishing levels he claims with EITHER carb or EFI?

i know timing needs to be retarded to make it work properly, but is there anything else? Oxygen sensors and stuff in the exhaust?

toward the end, he mentions with hesitation that the great gains that some people were having might be from using different gasoline without addatives that keep it from forming the bonds w/the hydrogen that give it such explosive power. This confuses me, as he says earlier that he and his buddies were getting these gains. wouldn't he know the fuel he was using?

and i know the system he describes needs maintanance. but i'm geeky and i'm alright with it

i'm an freshman ME student, and my professor gives me a deer in the headlights look when i ask him about this stuff (its a baseline class though, hopefully others later wil be better lol), so hopefully you guys can help me out more.

thanks a lot for any other tips or advice too

Best advice I can give you is to read, read, read. There is a wealth of information available in the forums, and lots of projects to look over in the "Other Peoples Projects" folders on the main site page. Another place with files, photos, and information, is the hydroxy group on Yahoo! Groups.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/hydroxy

You will have to become a member to read posts and access the files/photos section.

Don't expect any professor to understand the concepts here. Higher education trains people to focus their knowledge and attention into tight little niches we call boxes. In order to get anywhere beyond what the education system has planned for all of these individual machine cogs they are training, one has to be able to see and think outside of these boxes.

Once you do learn enough about this technology, you will find that non-inert electrodes, too much voltage on single cells, and battery acid/salt/baking soda/ect electrolytes, is what has kept electrolysis technology in the dark ages for over 100 years. Many have discovered the truth, and many of those truths have been suppressed. It's long past the time that these "civilized" societies of the world wake up to the crap they have been force fed by those that want to maintain the wealth and power that they have enjoyed for far too long.

Hi there,
Bob is right read ,read, read, and then get your hands dirty.
We are lucky to have Bob here helping us.
When you read...have two baskets. Plausable and BS. You will find the BS one will fill up fast and a lot of claims have been made that dont hold up.
If a device has been replicated and hold up then you will be on the right track.
I have done over 2000 hour research, I fund a couple of people and help a few others out with bits and pieces. I always seem comming back to the series design. I am in the stage of getting my hands dirty and feel its time to pay my dus and contribute.
Enjoy the Journey I am and you cant go too far wrong from the info you will read here.
Others here Like Kevin, Eco,Glenn and many more are doing some great work as well and many others have come up with some great designs.
Kind Regards
Mark

i did some reading on this site... in his v5 and v6 and electrolysis basics pages mostly, and learned some good stuff. i had no idea that amperage was the only substantial variable in electrolysis. i did still have a few questions specifically about things i'm seeing on here.

maybe i missed it, but what electrolyte addative does he use in his water (if any)? he emphasises the use of SS for the electrodes because they are resistant to corrosion... are these essentially permanant electrodes? the site i was reading on previously required you change the galvanized bolts out once and a while due to corrosion, but that was with a pretty generous amount of acid in the solution

reading and learning about how to make the electrolysis process most efficient is something i don't mind reading and learning about. my concern right now if how to make an EFI engine cooperate with the addition of such a gas. i like cars and i like science, but i was never much of a gearhead in high school, and i just don't know that stuff well enough to know where i would even need to start. if someone knows atleast what needs to happen exactly... like how much do lean/enrich the fuel mixture?, reduction/increase of oxygen sensor voltage? etc. a friend of mine said he can adjust my timing for me if i can get the computer issues of the operation sorted out.

if anyone here knows that end of this stuff, even to point me in the right direction, i'd sure like to hear from them.
