I posted a question on Yahoo!Answers but failed to get a decent answer. Can anybody tell me what would be the effect of immersing the antenna of a magnetron in water?
Imagine a JoeCell. Now imagine putting the magnetron antenna in the centre of the cell. There is some japanese guy who used a JoeCell to sucessfully make hydrogen, but not much though.
Microwaves being simple radiowaves, excite susceptible molecules such as water it is placed in a microwave oven cavity. But the water in the microwave oven has no electrical connection to the ground and the microwaves, which are reflected by the oven walls, have nowhere to go except on its 'target'. Whereas in a cell such as the JoeCell, the water is electrically connected to the ground.
What do you think would happen? Would a current be created?
