I tried herby53's suggestion which worked well. I cut a soda can in half and rinsed, poured in some acetone then added Plexiglas shavings. After about 20 minutes the shavings disolved into the consistency of runny snot, I then poured off most of the liquid or standing acetone leaving behind the home made glue. I applied Acetone to each edge and then applied the glue to each edge with a plumbers application brush. Set and clamped the pieces together and let cure for 30 min.
The only problem is that acetone evaporates quickly and you need to work relativly fast. You can do the same with MEK and have a little longer glue time.

if you were looking for a good glue for plexi or lexan try using urethane auto glass adhesive it can stand the heat pressure and water
