NaOH ......From Draino

Just thought I'd mention, A good source of NaOH can be had by heating about a cup of distilled water (hot not Boiling) pour it into a small glass jar. Add about 4 tablespoonful of drano crystals. Stir with a plastic stirrer. After It stops bubblin (eating up the small metal chips) Water will have some blue junk in it. Stir vigorously then pour thru a paper coffie filter into a clean jar with lid. This strains out all the junk. Water should be clear if properly strained. Can be saved as a liquid, or pour onto a pyrex disk let evaporate,and use a razor blade to scrape the white crystals from the pyrex dish.

hmmm.... I'm using drain opener crystals (-not- Draino) for my NaOH, but that is because the label says "100% Lye (sodium hydroxide)"
