I did read your post. What I really wanted to know is if he did it or not. But I thought I was worth adding "what happened." He say's he's not using a battery as a cell. He doesn't say why. That's my way of asking why.
Yours worked because you were charging the battery. Thats what happens when you charge lead-acid batteries. But there are different possibilities as to what could happen. If you did it with a completely full battery then it prolly wouldn't have worked because the batteries charged voltage will finally get up to about 13.6v. A charger I believe would give out a 14.4 voltage. So if/when if got up to that point there is only a .8v difference. So my best guess is that you were doing it with a fairly dead battery or your acid was a very strong solution. Either way that could easilly account for the massive amount of hydrogen.
Please correct me if I am wrong though
