super saturated NaOH.  Hard to see, but crystals are on the bottom of the jar.  I use the dropper to remove conc. NaOH off the top and transfer to coil


picture of coil at a voltage of ~5 VAC.  It is very difficult to get the dimmer to settle right on 5 volts and small changes in voltage dramatically changes the heat up time.


initial setup using rubber coated iron frame test tube holder.  Compass is pointing to coil.


Simple light dimmer switch (Leviton) screwed onto scrap high grade particle board from the local custom kitchen counter manufacturer down the street who leaves two dumpsters full of boards for trash pickup each week.  Great stuff with many uses.
