Project Description:
this project i wanted to utilize a ss coil around a solid bolt which would be used as the positive electrode... the spring i found is ss i am not certain of the grade and the bolt i though might be but after running it in the machine it does not seem to be... i was able to fill a small water balloon from about ten minutes of running and the machine did not get too hot.. my next step is to hook up a bubbler so i can count the bubbles to get an idea of how much i am producing... ok the bolt i used most have been made of an alloy of some sort that did not like the electrolysis it tunred black and had a 1/8" of ? built up on it... and it slowly produced less and less gas... so i guess i need to find a better center post and try it from there...

this is the machine doing its thing... the power supply is a 12Vdc power converter putting out around 600mA... at this point i have not added KOH i just wanted to see if it would even work and how well it would with the bottled water

this is the two electrodes assembled in the cap of the a gatorade bottle... the spring is the negative terminal and the little wire coming off of it goes out the lid for the connection... the positive terminal is a bolt i found that is pushed through the top and it is all sealed with two holes and the cap assembly with two part epoxy (hysol)

this is just a pic of the bottom of the cap assembly before i gobbed hysol all over it...

this is another angle

the cap fitted to the bottle i could not get it to seal properly so i added hysol to the threads to get a water tight seal
