Project Description:
This is my first attempt at an electrolyser.  I figured that I'd try and use off-the-shelf items, and not necessarily try and follow anyone elses ideas.

So, instead of using stainless steel electrodes, I bought copper plated pipe clamps.
Instead of stainless bolts, I used copper wire.

Etc.. Etc..

Needless to say, this turned out to be more of an exercise in materials compatibility.

Here are the pipe holders that I was planning on using as electrodes.  Since they were pre-drilled with holes, I figured it would be easy!


Picture of the lye I'm using (Gillian's Lye -- 98.5+ % pure sodium hydroxide).  It was the only thing that I could find around here that listed the percentage of sodium hydroxide.  

In the back, you can see the trimmer string I'm using as spacers.


Enjoying the wonders of crazy glue, as I glue on the spacers.  The hook rule was included so you could get an idea of the size.


The pipe clamps/holders were rounded in the center.  Since this annoyed me a little, I straightened them.
