In February I went up to Northern PA with two friends Dan and Jon, to try my hand at snowmobiling. I have never gone snowmobiling before save one or two very quick trips on my brother's sled. I was a bit apprehensive as I really didn't know what to expect; but in the end Dan said "You'll love it, just get your stuff and meet me over at my place. I left work and immediately went over to Dan's where we loaded my few bags and began our journey. I was really curious to see what this was all about. Mostly excited but a bit nervous that I had just signed on for several days of something I was not too sure about.

I am going to go back and post the pictures from that trip in this project to fill in some of the gaps but those pics are on another camera so I'll try to post them tonight. I will also give more details of the journey. For now, suffice it to say I ended up loving it more than I had anticipated. It made me want my own sled but I knew that the money for these pieces of machinery was far beyond my shoe-string budget.

On the way back home Jon said "I know someone with two old sleds that he's been trying to sell for years!" After further inquiry it turned out the guy only wanted 300 bucks for the pair. So here I was with the potential purchase of not only 1 but 2 sleds that were very old but in really good shape for their age. -At least that's what my buddy said.

I took him on his word and purchased the sleds "sight unseen" because I trusted in what he was telling me. He picked the sleds up that next day or so and brought them down home to Dan's place because he had a really nice heated shop for working on stuff like this. Immediately after work I went over to Dan's to see my 2 new babies. Jon was quite the mechanic and had the sleds torn apart fairly well by the time I got there. He had already cleaned the carbs out re-filled them with new fresh gas. We had some old gas lines to replace and some careful inspection of other items but all in all the sleds were in fact in very good condition.

The sled pictured here is a 1980 Moto-Ski Supersonic 340

Ultrasonic engine. It's in really nice shape in there.
