This was an early pic of the belt that I tried to make out of a tire tube.

I later learned that carbon was a big no-no in Van De-Graffe generators, so this rubber was very wrong for my application.

I ended up purchasing some food grade rubber (no carbon in it) and making that into my belt. It worked quite well

This was before I had my 2 salad bowls

What's that!?!#@## A baby Van De-Graffe! wow cool

It works amazingly well for being so small. The tissue paper flies out almost instantly when it is turned on.

Here is a pic of the under side. Just a little radio shack 1.5 volt motor and a piece of bare copper wire with some aluminum foil wrapped around it ...jagged edge facing the 2 rubber bands on the lower pully.

I have since disassembled this one, in attempting to make better smaller ones. I have yet to get one to work as well as this little guy did. I'm kind of kicking myself for ripping it apart now.

Here was the rubber tire tube that I started to cut open.

Again, this will NOT work for Van De-Graffe generators, due to the fact that it has a lot of carbon in it.

You need food grade rubber or natural gum rubber, with no carbon.
