Project Description:
After my first failure with the metals reacting to the lye, and halfway through my second unit, I decided to go a different route and try a series cell design.

It wasn't until Kevensatterfield posted about the weatherstripping that I decided to do this, so thanks Kevin!

Also a big thanks to Chris for the use of this site, and all of the folk out there discussing things on a daily basis -- It makes for interesting reading.

I have run this electrolyser a few different times, and have performed some measurements.  I will include these in my picture descriptions as I go along.  I hope to build another couple of units in different configurations to try and get as much experience and exposure as I can to this.  As I do, I will continue to post my results.

Placed in its airtight box, and its bubbler sitting beside it.


Run #1.  I have put the plates in an airtight box and sealed everything with hot glue (BAD IDEA -- I later went over it all with silicon sealant).  I connected the hose to the bubbler, and am ready for my first test!  

I mixed my electrolyte strong this time.


Next test!  This time, we can get primitive volume measurements, through counting the bubbles.  The hose and connectors are 3/8" ID.

In this test, a few of the cells shorted out, I think, since the electrolyte foamed over the top of the plates.  Especially between cells 1 - 2, and 3 - 4.
