Project Description:
This is my hydrogen generator.
I was snooping around on the net to find a way to get better MPG, I had been looking over everything regarding the GEET (Paul Pantone's PMC) for a few years, I'm from france and they are pretty active about that over there (over 100 "retro-fits" described on www.quanthomme.org -- check it out for more info (in french though).
Then I ended up on PESWiki. I found Andrew's page (http://waterpoweredcar.com/hydrobooster2.html) who helped me and sent me parts.
I built his prototype, and melted the lid (! - Cables were smoking :-O ), due to a short.
So I saw Chris's prototype made with walmart Cereal boxes, and decided to go take a look in their alleys.
I'm lucky, I have a big space next to my washer fluid tank, so I grabbed a big box for keeping bread.
Here it is ! I can put like a gallon and a half, in it, I won't be stopping too often to refill it !

Nota : at first I used KOH, I ran out during my experiments so I tried Baking soda. 1 tsp, and you go up to 50A ! Easy to find, and with one box, I'm off for at least a year !
I now use distilled water from walmart at 65c a Gal.

You can see the rocket launcher style switch :-), the ammeter, my pot to adjust fuel mixture, and switch for the O2 sensor.

It needs a little bit black silicon on top. I wasn't very good with my first plate. The second one looks a bit better. I still need to put two screws on the bottom and silicon between the two plates.

The container under my hood, hooked up to the air intake.

I'll take pictures of the wiring (which isn't really nice and clean :-( ).
Everything is rated 80Amps, 8Ga cable, 80A Blue seas Maxi fuse holder, 80A stinger SR80 relay, but yesterday I was drawing about 50Amps at 8V, and drained my battery, I think it's a bit too much.
I don't know much about it, but I'll lower it to around 30 amps.

UPDATE : A tech at work just told me not to exceed 30A, or to install a second battery in the trunk for example, along with a battery isolator. I might stick with the former until I got enough money for the latter :-)

So, is that slick or what ? Actually it isn't, I made certain parts quickly, so it doesn't have a "finish" look (my wiring, my silicon job), but I'm pretty proud still :-D

Thanks to Andrew (http://waterpoweredcar.com/hydrobooster2.html), to OUpower members and to the Admin Chris for making this great site, to Watercar and Waterfuel1979 Yahoo groups.

I also want to compile every important point mentioned on the forum in the form of a walkthrough, a guide to newcomers of everything you must know about Hydrogen production.

More pics and comments coming, and results.
I cannot measure my MPGs accurately though, as my odometer doesn't work.
I have a mpg gauge, that gives me an idea.. and my onboard computer is disconnected.
The car is an 84 bmw 733i, BTW.
Cya, and happy egas-ing !
