This shows some of the switch wiring. The switch is in the top right.Red wire off the bottom spade of switch runs to AC Mains spade connector on power cord. Top spade connector on the switch, runs to the other spade connector on powercord AC mains and splices off to transformer primary.The black wire running down on the right of the red wire is is from dimmer switch.  Dimmer switch is wired inline from the center spade connection on the power switch to the transformer's primary.


E.T. go home... Gary (Chemlec) has informed me : " Consider that the AC Output, When Rectified is 1.414 Times this RMS AC OUTPUT.
EXAMPLE: So if your transformer puts out 20 Volts, the Rectified output will be about 28 Volts DC. So you would use a Capacitor with a Rating Greater than 28 Volts. (Possibly 35 to 50 Volts." My secondary's RMS Output is 32V,  when rectified the DC voltage will be 45.248 VDC. This is way over my target 30V output.I will need to back off windings from the transformers secondary until I get a RMS AC voltage of 21.216. This will be about 10 turns. Also, the bridge voltage rating must be double the DC output, So I would have to have at the least a bridge rated for 60V.Also the bridge will have to be heat sinked. I will also need a filter Capacitor. Chemlec said:  "you should have 1000uF for every Amp you expect to get out. So if your output is 10 Amps, you would use a 10,000uF Cap. Without Filter capacitors, your Not really getting Much DC Current.Mostly a lot of 120 Hz Ripple". I want 25 amp output so I need a Filter Capacitor of at least 30V 25,000uF. I can use two 30V 16,000uF caps in parallel. Remember that the capacitance must be greater than the voltage.


Ok I gotta pull the transformer and remove 10 turns from the secondary.I fear that the secoundary might over heat when pullin the amps I want. Chemlec suggests that the #12 stranded may be a bit small, I think I,ll unwind secondary and rewind with #10 stranded or similar size in a single insulated wire.


Lookie what a heat sink I got given to me for the bridge rectifier.Use to have 10 big arse transistors mounted on it. Its 2.5 X 2.5 inches about 1 foot long. I'll cut it in half to fit it into my box.
