Pouring it into the second one now. The first went in beautifully. No bubbling or problems. This second one also seemed to go in perfectly. I also like the sprue being here on the side so I can pour a lot easier and with a full crucible. It was a bad mistake pouring directly on top of my piece. I won't do that ever again.


Here are the 2 finished molds and on top of them you can see the old failures. I had enough metal left over for 2 ingots so that was a perfect pour.

Notice the first one is dimpled ...it is cooling and starting to suck some metal from the sprue.

I have already bricked up my furnace and put my burner away for the evening. I will check my molds in a little bit. Stay tuned... :)


Here are the new castings after they have cooled. They look spectacular!


I could not be more pleased with my 2nd attempt at these pieces. They are solid and no visible defects to speak of at all.


The inner area looks great as well.
