The large hole is 3/8, I think I might try a step-bit to take it to 1/2" . Oh yea, Almost forgot these dishes do have some surface oil that must be cleaned off prior to sanding. If you sand any SS without first cleaning the oils off, your screwed. Especially very thin stock. I just use the proper cleaning method for these.....the dishwasher. Just use the detergent that says no rinse (I think this stuff is caustic base). Sand before drillin makes that easier.

This is a punch thru burr, I,ll remove these with large drill bit and carefully take these off.

Starting the Stack. This is the base or the bottom of the stack. the bottoms are recessed so I had to drill escape holes in the highest point of the bottom.

the bottom is actually two dishes stacked (goop Glue in between them). This makes the starter very ridgid, I will be puttin the squeeze on it later.Update: Dont use glue between the two base dishes,The glue will be sealed from air and will not dry.

3/8" I.D. vinyl tubing. This is a shot of the rod insulators.
