Last ditch effort, 2 batteries going ...tons of sparks to scare the neighbors. Especially so now that it is dark out. I wonder if gas furnaces do the sparking like charcoal? I may be making myself a gas furnace here sooner than I thought.

I burned like this for another 10 minutes and it never got hot enough. Time to brick things up and try again tomorrow. I may go and buy some metal to make a burner. I could probably have this running on gas in very short order tomorrow.

9/14/2002 Here I am working on my new Oliver Upwind type burner. I am trying to show the #57 hole that I have drilled in this piece of 1/8 inch pipe.

I have drilled the holes just under size so that I can use a file to make them just big enough to fit the pipe.

Drilling the 3 sets of vent holes (6 total) so that I can give it plenty of air
