Putting the blower in ...not too far in now :) It's already a bit melted. Metal is definitely the way to go here. But Dave can't be blamed, I just didn't grasp exactly what he was describing at first.

Loading up some Aluminum scraps. I don't want to put a lot in, I really just want to see if it will melt. I have to leave very soon so this was a bad idea but I was curious as hell and since it was hot... what the hell.

Testing to see if these pieces will fit in. Yup they do. Come on baby ...let's see what you got. Tic-Toc Tic-Toc.

My neighbor asked me if it was working and I was explaining that I had to go in a few minutes. It definitely needed more heat.

Oh well, I will try again tomorrow. Time to shut down and brick it all up so that it cools slowly the whole night long. By brick it up, I mean, putting a brick on the top hole, and another covering the tuyere. That is what Dave's book says to do, so I'll give it a try. ...See you tomorrow!

Well tomorrow is here (9/12/2002) and I am going to give it my best. Here I am lighting it up for the day. I hope to be pouring within 30 minutes, if all goes well.
