Almost forgot this guy. I made a small insert for the bottom. This will burn away when the furnace is fired. I learned the trick of adding this from Lionel's site BackyardMetalCasting.com and I think it is a very good idea.

I'm still not sure where I'm going to do this, but I'll worry about that tomorrow.

I am off to bed now. I have a big day ahead of me tomorrow. I hope that all goes well. I will try to take as many pictures as possible. I am very excited about what tomorrow may bring. I'll find out soon enough.

Morning! ...I left my mix cure over-night in an airtight container so here I am now ramming my new lid. This one is made of metal and should hold up quite well. I just hope that the refractory mix from Dave Gingery's book is accurate! -I don't want to do this a 3rd time this week. Twice is quite enough *grin*.

Hi Daddy... Can I help? I think it is wonderful to expose your children to different activities. Think of all the exciting things we do in life. Exposure to as many positive activities as possible, will in my opinion, help to form our children into wonderfully intelligent little people. Sure there is a lot that goes along with it, but just exposing them to the different things, is a huge step in the right direction.

I can't wait to see some of the science fair projects that my little girl is hopefully going to do. Daddy will be there to provide lots of ideas if she needs help. She is just getting to the age now where she is beginning to think much more in-depth and it is a wonderful thing to behold.

All rammed up and in the oven to bake at 250 for 2 or 3 hours. That will evacuate the moisture and then 350 - 400 for the next part (5 - 6 hours) to harden it.

On to the hard part now... ramming the main body of the furnace. I hope that this tube idea works?
