well i got awarded visitation of my son. which was the most important thing to me. its only one hour a week. we filed for a continuance, because im getting statements and witnesses together.

actually i do know that anything labeled as going to the 40 w main st address has gotten returned. (united nuclear and bulkwire.com both have had problems) in fact, im pretty sure something that went ot the proper PO BOX address got returned (the constant-current converter)

but i told the seller of the converter the proper address so who knows. ohwell.

finally finally finally got the converter in yesterday. am about to mix up an extraordinarily strong batch of electrolyte, so that the voltage is as low as possible.


40 ampheres. 40! not ten. or five. or whatever. 40 ampheres running through the cell at prolly around 3.5 volts. thats around 10 ampheres from the vehicles electrical system. hence: THE BRUTE FORCE SOLUTION!

the only forseeable problem is that boyce reccommends my cell because of square inches be run @ around 8 ampheres.....im seriously "overclocking" this cell. i think i'll finally have a few plates laser cut from the local metal yard. sigh. i hate spending money. haha.

im only running the one cell because the other cell's case cracked. again. i cant figure out why those cases crack the way that they do. maybe i should email the company and ask what they are made from (the specific blend of plastics used) and see if they get brittle when exposed to KOH. its not like theyre putting out SO MUCH gas that they cant stand the pressure.

the only thing that really, really SUCKS is if i build it up tonight, i still wont be able to take any movies because my camera is dead and its still at the house where my psychotic ex lives at. i cant get back in there yet. long story. and no, im not the violent one. Alaskastar can vouch for that one.

anywho! im gonna build this sucker up tonight, maybe solder up the relay and a kill switch. (always on if engine is on unless switch is flipped, then it is cut off.)

the thing that sucks is that the dc-dc converter thats being used is a constant-current- and from the looks of it (without disassembling) it looks to be from the same company i was trying to source and sell converters from, to be the brute force solution!

does lowes/homo depot carry any clear tubes? i need to build a series of three or four bubblers.

okay so far i've got everything wired up, installed in the car, just not hooked up, and im not driving the cell past 25 amperes, since the ammeter i have is just a 0-25 one.... a 0-50 amp meter is on its way. along with a 0-10V meter. i couldnt find a 0-5 DCV meter. these will help me monitor my cell on the fly. for safety, i have a 30 amp breaker within 12" of the battery. thats for a dead-short situation. then i have a relay wired to the hot side of the fuse panel. then at the on-off switch, i have a fuse holder with 15A fuse. the whole thing is wired to a single ground wire, which has a spade terminal between it and ground, which would sever the flow if i physically grabbed it and yanked.


anywho, i'll take some pics/movies. right now production is dismal, like 1/2 liter/minute. the cell is small, only four plates @ 2" x 4" , total surface area of 32 sq inches. im gonna crank it up to 40 amps when i get the gauges.

Increasing it to 40 amps should get you close to 1 liter.

I doubt that increasing Plate area will help with anything.
Just more current draw for a given voltage.

A 250uA meter with a 10 Meg resistor in series, Will give you a 0 to 2.5 Volt Voltmeter.
